Maruti Suzuki Jumps Into The Electric Arena, Displays Its e-Vitara At Auto Expo

Maruti Suzuki has launched the company's first Electric Vehicle, the e-Vitara at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The e-Vitara is built on the brand-new EV platform, HEARTECT-e. According to Maruti Suzuki, this platform is designed on three core principles – exceptional strength and structural rigidity, a spacious cabin, and advanced high-voltage protection. For enhanced capability, the larger battery pack is also available with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, which adds a rear-mounted 65-hp motor. This configuration provides a combined output of 184hp and 300Nm of torque. While Maruti has not disclosed the exact range figures, the larger battery pack is expected to deliver an impressive range of over 500km. Utilising advanced Cell-To-Pack technology and a sophisticated thermal management system, the batteries are designed to perform reliably in extreme temperature conditions ranging from -30°C to 60°C, ensuring optimal performance in diverse environments.

2025-26 Will Be Trigger Point For Electrification Says Hyundai India's Tarun Garg

Hyundai India's Chief Operating Officer, Tarun Garg tells BTTV's Chetan Bhutani that an improving ecosystem could boost passenger EV penetration to 17% by 2030, up from the current 2.4%. The company plans to introduce three additional EV models following the Creta EV. Hyundai also anticipates increasing its production capacity to 1.1 million units by 2028, up from the current 824,000 units. This growth will be supported by the new Pune plant, which will have a Phase I capacity of 170,000 units and is set to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2025. The second phase, adding another 80,000 units, will commence thereafter.
